As a worldwide export category, tourism ranks third after chemicals and fuels and ahead of automotive products
and food. In many developing countries, tourism is the top export category. This article highlights the role of tourism and
its economic impact in the world economy. And also the main characteristics of tourism as an economic activity will be
presented in detail. In addition this article will include some negative effects of tourism to the economy. Relatively, it will
offer some practical solutions to improve the sustainable tourism to get more profit. And also this article will pay attention
to specific part of the world where the proportion of tourism is enough big in their GDP rate.
